Like new strains of flu virus, a new mental/psychological state emerged. It is characterized by a sudden surge of emotions right after waking up from a deep sleep. Flashbacks are subjective and it is always about someone.. someone who you really care, someone you love. Physiologically, watery eyes is evident but it is not the classical presentation of WMS as well as the autonomic signs and symptoms. Physiological manifestations are relative to the degree of longing. A strong emotional attachment should be felt with that someone. It should be pure. It must be love. A good psychological/emotional assessment is essential before arriving to a differential diagnosis of WMS.
